Pepper

Pepper

Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.)

Pepper is an annual herbaceous plant of the Solanaceae family. It is eaten fresh in salads, but can also be prepared as a pickle. It is a rich source of vitamins, especially vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid). Dried peppers (intense hot taste) are rich in vitamin A. Factors such as the high nutritional value of the harvested product, its relatively easy adaptability to Greek conditions and its cost-effectiveness make the cultivation of peppers under cover in Greece very promising. Achieving high yield and quality depends on many factors. The most important of these is rational nutrition. Whether through the root system or through the foliage, nutrients must be supplied in the right quantities at the right time. In addition, the use of special nutrient formulations – biostimulants – significantly improves the robustness, hormonal balance, resistance to abiotic stress, etc. of the crop.

Crop Recommendation Program

The doses and growth stages are indicative and are always adjusted according to the recommendations of the agricultural engineer. Because rational fertilisation is always assessed in relation to:

  • Expected yield
  • Soil characteristics
  • Planting density
  • Environmental conditions
  • Growth stage
  • Plant vigour
  • Growing duration
  • Hybrid
